Every June, golfers attempt (and usually succeed!) to play 100 holes of golf in one day. This uniquely fun event is a popular fund raiser for Bridgehaven. On April 21st, we had a wonderful time celebrating our members' achievements over the past year at the annual Bridgehaven Recovery Awards, held this year at the Louisville Deaf-Oral School across the street from Bridgehaven.

Members were recognized in categories that included Positive Energy, Outstanding Initiative, Becoming More Independent and Coming Out of Their Shell to name a few.

Tara Bassett served as the event emcee, and Marty Meyer presented a special recognition certificate to each of the award recipients on behalf of Congressman John Yarmuth.

Bridgehaven Bridge Builder Society Members, Ambassadors and Board Members joined Howard Mason from Metro United Way, Erick Friedlander, Acting Commissioner of Mental Health, and Sandy Silver with DMH in presenting the awards.

Bridgehaven Participants' family and friends attend the ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of their loved ones, as well as Bridgehaven staff and community supporters.

Guest glass artist Jonathan Swanz transformed the gallery at Bridgehaven into a Glass WORKS in Recovery spectacular exhibit of exquisite glass pieces. The exhibit featured over 100 glass pieces including plates, dishes, vases and suncatchers that were created by Bridgehaven members in a two month workshop conducted by Swanz.

Over 50 framed oils, watercolors and prints by Bridgehaven members and art therapists lined the hallways. Well over half of the pieces were sold at the event, with half of the ticket price going to the Bridgehaven art therapy program, and half to the member artist.

Hors d'oeuvres and wine were served by a team of Bridgehaven Board members and Ambassadors while guests browsed the program areas of the building admiring the art work and enjoying live music by the Bridgetime Players, as well as readings of member poetry.

In addition to our guest artists, we'd like to thank the others who worked hard in conjunction with this event to ensure the excellent art therapy program at Bridgehaven was showcased to the community and help raise several thousand dollars in much needed funds for the program.
